A Devotional
I know you’re thinking about it, maybe you’ve already done it. And you might possibly be really good at sticking to it. But we all know that it may not last. Because we do it every single year.
We make RESOLUTIONS!!! We spend MONEY…..we don’t have to spend!
Step away from the gym membership…. You’re not going to use it.
Don’t buy the treadmill because it’s only going to become a fancy laundry holder that you’ll sell later for half of what you paid for it. You don’t have to join anything!

Now, I’m not saying you shouldn’t get healthy. By all means, please exercise all you want. But for the sake of your sanity please don’t commit to doing something that you never did all last year!
Baby steps.
Change one thing a week. Just one.
Fun fact: It takes 66 days for something to become a habit. 66!
I like lists. I am a list person. Make a list of 5 things that you’d like to change. And do one a week or until you feel it’s going to work for you. If it doesn’t then abandon it. It’s ok to decide it isn’t working.
None of us should put the added pressure of spending money on things to make us better people. We can all simply take a walk for exercise. If you want to expand your horizons, visit a library or watch a documentary. Want to eat healthy? Look up healthy recipes on Pinterest, you don’t have to subscribe to anything!

Whatever you want to change, I challenge you to change it without spending a dime to do it. Make a commitment to yourself, not to a machine or a program or meal plan or gym.
Being good stewards of our finances and time is something we are called to do. It’s mentioned many times in the Bible about being smart with your money. So before you choose to make such a huge commitment, sit down and make sure it’s sustainable. You’ll be glad you did.
Actions/Questions
What are your 5 items you’d like to commit to?
What kind of money do you think you could save by NOT joining anything unnecessary this year?
