A Devotional
Odd title, I’m aware. However, accurate. I feel very un-Christmassy. The most I’ve ever felt in my whole life, but I have had a lot of people reach out to me regardless. They’ve made sure to tell me that it’s ok to feel this way. To celebrate gently, to take it slow, to make new traditions, to cry if I need to, to say my son’s name, to take as many breaks as needed and to give myself a lot of grace. They’ve sent me these words via text, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, card, and face to face. It’s been amazing. They have given me a few gifts, some so beautiful they’ve made me cry. Each and every one has been such an unbelievable blessing to me and to my family.

So no matter what life changing event someone has experienced please reach out if spirit is calling you to do so. The person on the receiving end will absolutely love you for it. No gesture is too small. I’ve experienced it all from huge influxes of money (that we never asked for) to the sweetest hugs. I’ve cherished them all. Equally. Because they’ve all been given in love. Each person gives what they can, when they can and they each want to give it!

So bake the casserole or cake. Give the $20 gift certificate or take over pizza. Offer to watch the other kids or dogs. Whatever you can do, if you feel you can do it please offer. It means more than you can imagine. That little feeling you feel, or voice in your head telling you that you should do it is the Holy Spirit speaking to you.
