First off, read this book!
Second, Kristin Hannah, you destroyed me with that ending! No spoilers but UGH!!
Finally, I’ve never really read about the dust bowl and the depression, my mother having been born in 1936, the war years have always called to me but this book, this story, captured me.
The strength, the love, the hardships they faced just took me to my knees! We have no idea what real struggle is in 2024! One hundred years ago they truly struggled to survive! They knew hunger and poverty! And knowing that my grand parents and great grandparents lived during this time was very humbling. It’s a story that is beautifully written and shows a woman’s capacity to dredge on despite being knocked down at every turn! ALL the stars!!!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
