A Devotional
Taking time to stop and simply be, is something we as women are trained to think of as selfish. Sitting around the house as lazy. As Americans we don’t understand the value of just being still.
Mother’s especially are expected, by our society, to be on the go almost constantly. Besides taking care of our delicate and immensely important littles, we are to make sure homes are clean, dinners and lunches are made, not to mention the laundry. Lord help you if you also work outside the home, as 73% of us do.
God didn’t create us for this kind of life. That is why he set aside The Lords Day, the Sabbath. A day of rest. Even in the beginning He wanted us to take time for ourselves. A time to sit and revel in his creations and a day to worship Him.
Give yourself permission.
Memories are the only thing we take with us to the grave.
Make them.
Cherish them.
Record them.
Our children deserve a mother that takes time to lay on the floor and play, to read a book, to swing on the swing, and play in the water.
Run away for the day, do something you’ve never done.
Visit a different ice cream shop or park.
Sit and watch a show they choose, the dishes can wait.
Use your crock pot or order pizza to free up your time so you can bake mud pies instead.
The point ladies, is to slow down. Let things go that can wait because life won’t wait for you.
One day you’re going to look up from all your “very important tasks” and you’ll have a grown child in front of you. Your littles will have gotten taller, voices deepen, skirts shorter. You’ll have gone from “Mommy” to “Mom” to “Bruh” without a backwards glance.
Stop. Play. Pray. Cherish.
It’s important.
